Hit-Run Suspect Caught After Crashing Car Into Farmingdale Home, Police Say

A 20-year-old man has been apprehended after crashing his car into a Long Island home and then leaving the scene.

Calogero Messina, of Astoria, Queens, was arrested for an incident that happened in Farmingdale at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Officers patrolling the area saw a 2019 Volkswagen Golf had struck a home at 36 Stratford Green, NCPD said. 

Investigators determined that Messina had crashed into the residence and then left the scene on foot, police said.

Police said Messina was arrested on Conklin Street without incident and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police said the occupants of the home were not injured.

Messina was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an incident, police reported.

He was released on an appearance ticket for a court date on Thursday, Sept. 22, authorities said.
